Bengaluru : Barely a day after being disqualified by the Supreme Court , rebel MLAs are reportedly set to join ruling BJP.
“They(Congress and JDS legislators) have expressed interest to join BJP and have met our senior leaders, said Deputy Chief Minister Ashwathnarayan.
They are expected to join the partat 10.30 am, Thursday, he said in the presence of Chief Minister BS Yedyurappa and BJP state President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
According to sources, the disqualified MLAs along with Ashwathnarayan met BL Santosh, BJP National General Secretary(Organistion), in the capital hours after the verdict.
The Supreme Court on 12 Nov upheld the disqualification of 17 Congress-JDS MLAs by former Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. The court however struck down the portion of the order which said these MLAs are be barred from contesting elections.
The Speaker had ousted the MLAs for revolts that triggered the collapse of JDS-Congress govt and takeover of the BS Yedyurappa-led BJP in the state.
