Bengaluru : Of the 16 disqualified lawmakers from Congress-JDS who joined BJP, 13 have been given party tickets to contest upcoming bypolls.
They will now contest polls from their respective seats after the Supreme Court gave its nod for their candidature in Dec 5 byelections
Fifteen of the 17 seats fell vacant following disqualification of Congress, JDS and an independent candidate. The Election commission has not notified elections to two constituencies – RR Naggar and Maski owing to separate court cases.
As for Ranebennur, which was represented by Independent R Shankar, BJP is yet to announce the ticket for him. According to souces, the Rural Development minister KS Eshwarappa is lobbying to field his son.
