Coibatore : A burglar high on drinks fell asleep amid rummaging a house for cash and jewellery. The amusing burglary attempt took place Wednesday night at a house on Nehru Street in Kattoor Ram Nagar.
The accused, Balasubramanian(48) is Karumathampatti native. He broke into the house while its owner Rajan(53) was away at his wife’s house in Kathirnaikan Palayam Upon returning late night, Rajan was surprised to find the main door unlocked and called his friend over to check inside. There, in one of the rooms, they found the intruder sound asleep. The duo quickly called Kattur police, who arrived at the scene and woke the sleeping thief and took him into custody.
At the station, the burglar said it was dark inside the house when he entered and that he bumped into something and fell to the floor. As he was too drunk at the time to get himself up, he slumped and slept off on the floor.
