MUMBAI : In a terrorizing style akin to Yogi Adityanath’s, the Maharashtra govt is using excessive police force to crackdown on DYFI march, said DYFI All-India President Muhammad Riaz. The central Congress should direct govt in Maharashtra to stop police brutality and bring to halt all NPR and CAA activities in the State, he said.
The 4-day youth march demands a total stop to NPR surveys, greater employment opportunities and cost-free education for the people. The rally was however blocked by police for two days since it began. On the first day, police arrested Muhammad Riyaz in Uran where he had reached for inaugurating the march. Riayaz was later released.
And, early morning today, police surrounded BDR Bhavan where protesters camped overnight, and barricaded them from pushing ahead with their march. The situation in the area continues to be tense.
