Will End Muslim Reservation in Telangana : Amit Shah

Web Desk (Tvm)Updated: Monday Apr 24, 2023

Hyderabad : If BJP were to come to power in Telangana, the reservaton for  Muslims would be ended in state, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It is unconstitutional to grant reservation and benefits in the name of religion. The SC/ST, OBC and Economically Backward Class are the only sections eligible for reservation.  Reservation quota for Muslims shall be removed and the same distributed across SC/ST, OBC and Economically backward class, said Shah addressing a rally in Hyderabad. Telangana currently has 4 percent reservation for the Muslims.

The BRS government is riddled with corruption. It does not implement any of Central government’s programs for the poor, said Shah, adding that the State govt should be brought down. The minister also criticised  AIMIM leader, Aasaudin Owasi.  The BRS government is implementing decisions of Owasi’s Majili Party. We do not need that sort of government here, said Shah.

Following the comment, Owasi came out with his response. Except for anti-Muslim speeches, BJP has nothing in particular to do.; All they can ever give is false promises, he said.

What’s Happening ? Telangana will have Lok Sabha elections this yearend. Earlier, In Karnataka, right before elections, the Muslim reservation quota was quashed and distributed among two sections of the Hindu community.  Shah’s speech  indicates a replay of that strategy.
