New Delhi : CPI(M) extended felicitations to lakhs of farmers who stayed grounded in their historical protest against the dark laws of Modi government. The farming community has taught Modi lesson that dictatorship will not sell here. Felicitations also to those martyred during the course of protest, said CPI(M) in its statement issued Friday.
The decision to scrap agri laws mark victory to protests steered by Samyukta Kissan Morcha. The farmers forced Narendra Modi govt to come by the decision by surviving all heinous tactics the govt deployed to subdue them.
The decision to withdraw Bills stems from cowardice and not intent for protecting farmers’ interests, said MP Elamaram Kareem. The government was rather forced to take this decision, the MP added.
BJP suffered huge election setbacks in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bengal and Assam. The recent Parliament-Assembly byelections too saw BJP falling out of favour. The current retreat is from fear of losing upcoming Assembly elections in U.P. and Uttarakhand, rather than with goodwill to protect farmers’ interests, said Elamaram Kareem.
