New Delhi : The free-of-cost bus travel promised by Chief Minister Arvind Kejrival taken off in the country's capital.
Free rides would be available to women folk on all State Transport Corporation and cluster buses. Women will be issued pink tickets which will be reimbursed by the govt to STC.
The measure is aimed at encouraging greater role for women in the society and their safety will be ensured, said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Kejrival had announced the frebie on 15 August following which the cabinet lend in-principle approval to the scheme on 29 August. Govt issued its formal notification on Tuesday.
