MUMBAI : National Congress Party(NCP) chief Sharad Pawar today called a press conference jointly with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackery in Mumbai, claiming 170 MLAs alongside their alliance. We have the numbers to form govt in Maharashtra, Pawar told the reporters.
Pawar presented the three MLAs in front of reporters – the ones who supposedly jumped the banner with Ajit Pawar. We were ‘,misled’, the MLAs told the media.
NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena had reached a consensus on govt formation but, Devendra Fadnavis unexpectedly took oath as Chief Minister, Pawar said.
Ajit Pawar has betrayed the Marathis, Uddhav lashed out. He has stabbed us in the back, said another Sena leader Sanjay Raut.
Maharashtra was in a limbo even one month after the election results, with no party or alliance coming forth with majority stake to form govt.
After weeks-long deliberations, the Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena, claimed majority and consensus and were about to announce their govt in the state today, when BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis , the former CM, took oath in the wee hours of morning.
