New Delhi : Ghulam Nabi Azad, the leader at helm of Congress’s dissent faction, G-23, said a lot of times in the past he felt strong urge to quit politics and engage in social service. He further expressed serious reservations about abilities of political parties to bring about transformations. Civil society can play a big role during troubled times, said Ghulam. The signal to ending his political career came at an event organised in Kashmir felicitating Ghulam's achievement of Padma Bhusan .
All parties including Congress divide people on basis of caste or religion, said Ghulam. With opening lines saying he will not deliver political speech, Ghulam Ali criticised all political parties throughout his address.
In the Rajya Sabha, several MPs, including Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge, slammed Ghulam’s remark on Congress’s fling with divisive politics. Ghulam Nabi Azad’s claim comes amid attempts on G-23 side to strike reconciliation with Congress leadership.
