Mumbai : CPI(M) records milestone victory in polls across 1165 Grama Panchayats in 18 districts of Maharashtra. Contesting alone, CPI(M) grabbed power in panchayats close to 100. Elsewhere, more numbers of seats have been won by CPI(M), the details of which are under processing, the leadership said.
BJP marked victory in 239 Grama Panchayats, while its ally, the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena secured 113 panchayats. Of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, NCP secured 155 seats, Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction 153 sets and Congress 149.
Nagpur : CPI(M) shot into spotlight after its historic farmers’ long march that began in Nagpur’s Surgana Taluk. CPI(M) captured 33 panchayats in Surgana.
Nasik: In Nasik CPI(M), CPI(M) secured 8 panchayats in Kalvan taluk, 7 in Threyamkasheri, 6 in Dindora and 5 in Petti. Of Nasik’s total 194 panchayats, CPI(M) won in 59. NCP emerged as largest single-party majority winning 51 panchayats, Congress won 9 and BJP 13.
Thane - Palghar : In districts of Thane Palghar, CPI(M) bagged 26 panchayats – 9 in Dahanu taluk, 5 in Jawahar, 4 in Thalasri and 3 each in Vikramagad and Vadi. CPI(M) secured one panchayat each in Hashapur and Murbad.
Ahmednagar : In Ahmednagar district, CPI(M) gained 6 panchayats in Akola Taluk. Of 91 panchayats, CPI(M), in capacity as single-party prevails over majority panchayats.
