Kota : Green Carpet rolled out to welcome Health Minister at his visit to the state-run hospital in Kota, where 106 children have died since December, kicks up storm.
Following outcry by opposition BJP and others, the JK Lon Hospital administration removed the carpet shortly before the minister’s arrival. Health Minister Raghu Sharma told reporters, he instructed the hospital to refrain from special arrangements as soon as he learnt about it.
The hospital which has been blamed by the National Human Rights Commission for its defunct gadgets and lack of cleanliness, had braced up for Sharma’s visit. At least 50 stray pigs were removed from the premises. Damaged portions of the hospital were repaired, walls white washed and all equipments were kept in ready mode. Defunct room-heaters and lights were relaced in kids’ wards.
According to sources hectic cleaning was undertaken over a week’s time in anticipation of the minister's visit..
A 15-day-old female infant died at the hospital yesterday, pushing the tally to 106 in last 34 days. However this time, the doctors explained it to be a premature birth.
According to reports, the state authorities put the number of child deaths in JK Lon Hospital at 963, in 2019. The figure was above 1000 in the preceding year , they said.
