New Delhi : The farmers’ protests in Karnal brought Haryana government to its knees. The farmers agreed to call off the agitation after state govt ceded to its major demands including compensating the slain farmer’s family and launching investigation into police violence that caused the tragedy. The state government announced the probe after its talks with farmer leaders. The investigation shall be overseen by a retired High court judge.
Satisfying one of the farmers’ foremost call, the govt asked former SDM Ayush Sinha to go on leave. The government also agreed to the demand of granting jobs to two members of Susheel Kajal’s family - the farmer who died after suffering fracture to his skull in police lathi-charge during peaceful protests.
