Shimla : With four more bodies recovered, death toll from cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh rose to 13. Two of the bodies were identified as Sonam(23) and three-month-old baby Manvi. They were retrieved from Rajbhan village in Podhar area in Mandi. Later in the evening, two more bodies were found on banks of Satluj River in Rampur. Their identifications remain to be confirmed.
The cloudbursts occurred on night of 31 July and created flash floods in Kullu’s Nirmand, Sainj and Malana, Mandi’s Podhar and Shimla’s Rampur subdivision. The rescue team comprises 410 rescue personnel from Army, NDRF, ITBP, CISF, Himachal Police and Home Guards combined. Meanwhile, at least 40 remain still missing and search has been intensified by deploying more equipment, sniffer dogs and drones.
