Shimla : In a unheard of mandate, the district administration in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi made character certificate mandatory for journalists if they were to cover event involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The notification in this regard was issued on Tuesday.
The new code is with view to PM’s visit to Himachal Pradesh which authorities claim involves safety concerns that make it essential that reporters submit character certificate to obtain entry passes.
The rule will apply to all print, visual and digital media including government-run All India Radio and Doordarshan and private media houses. The new rule was stipulated by the District Police Chief and District Administration.
PM is arriving in state to Inaugurate AIIMS in Bilaspur and to partake in Kullu Dasara.
