India Burning : Two Killed in Police Firing in Magaluru; Curfew Imposed : Anti-CAA Protests

MANGALURU : Anti-CAA took violent turn in BJP-ruled Karnataka, with two lives lost in police firing  at Mangaluru on Thursday.

Hundreds poured into the streets defying prohibitory orders and police claim, they tried to lay siege to the Mangalore North police station at the point when the shooting occurred.

Prominent citizens, students and activists were joined by general public in solidarity with the protests.  According to sources, the police resorted to tear gas, lathi charge and fired in the air as crowd swelled. High pitched slogans against BJP-led Centre, RSS and Hindutva echoed in the streets.

Meanwhile news crew belonging to different media houses, including reporters from Malayalam news channels.  were taken into custody and  prevented from reporting the incident. According to reports, the journalists were treated badly and intimated against covering the protests.
