Coronavirus : Countrywide Cases Now 70,480; 97 Deaths in Past 24 Hrs; Recoveries 31.15 Percent

NEW DELHI : Nationwide Tally for Covid-19 spiked  from 60,000 to over 70,000 in three-day time.  70,480 cases have been recorded so far . Sunday saw the biggest single-day spike so far – 4213 new cases in the day.

 

97 people, including 36 from Maharashtra,  have died from the virus in past 24 hours. Gujarat recorded 20 deaths Sunday taking its tally 500 now.

 

Cases in Tamil Nadu crossed 8000. Of the 798 new cases reported Monday, 538 came from inside Chennai. Cases in Delhi surpassed 7000. National recovery rate hovers around 31.15 percent. 1559 people registered recovery in the past 24 hours. The notational tally for recoveries so far stands at 20,917.

 

Other Updates :

ð 137 workers who returned to Odisha tested positive for the virus. 136 arrived from Surat, Gujarat and 1 from Kerala.

 

ð 6 BSF jawans are ill with the infection.

 

ð More than 1000 policemen in Maharashtra have been diagnosed with the virus. 221 cases among the force were recorded in past 24 hours alone.

 

ð 10 more journalists in Tamil Nadu are down with  Covid-19. 53 from the news media have tested positive up to now.

 

ð Aurangabad becomes new hotspot with 600 infections.
