Web Desk‌Updated: Friday Dec 27, 2019

NEW DELHI :  In the wake of intensified protests against NRC and CAA, the authorities issued Prohibitory Orders at three places in Delhi. In Uttar Pradesh, net services have been jammed in 10 locations.

Orders prohibiting assembly of two or more persons in Delhi, cover Silampur, Jaffarabad and UP Bhavan in Chanakpur. The Prohibitory orders follow protests staged by students of Jamia Millia University in the capital early this week.

In UP, drones have  been deployed for surveillance in conflict prone areas while internet services have been blocked in several cities including the state capital of Lucknow,  Meerut, Kanpur, Aligarh, Agra and Mathura.

In view of Friday prayers, security has been beefed up around India’s oldest mosque of Jamia Masjid in Delhi.

Meanwhile students of Jamia Millia are set to lay siege to UP Bhavan in Chankyapur this afternoon. There is no police nod  for the demonstration so far. The Jamia students had marched to Jantar Mantar in violation of prohibitory order earlier too.
