Thiruvananthapuram : NIA conducts raids in Tamil Nadu based on intelligence that new group with links to Islamic State(IS) is being set up in State.
Sleuths busted 23 locations in Coimbatore and 3 in Chennai early Saturday morning. A search was also conducted at house of a DMK woman Councilor in Coimbatore. Last week, Thrissur native Nabil was arrested for attempting to set up new group with links to IS.
According to NIA, Nabil headed efforts for setting up of the IS-connect group in Kerala, that would eventually function as recruitment and training centre for IS. The group also hatched plan to attack a Christian clergy and to also loot temples in Thrissur and Palakkad districts. Nabil’s custodial term ends today. He was subject to extensive questioning in the past few days. Evidences were collected from secretive haunts where conspiracies were plotted.
