NEW DELHI : In the coup that bowled Congress out in Madhya Pradesh, the party has lost both governance and   iconic clan member Jyotiraditya Scindia. Scindia  had quit Congress yesterday and accepted BJP membership from its national president JP Nadda earlier today. The disgruntled leader said Congress did not make good on any of its promises to the people of Madhya Pradesh. According to sources, the other MLAs who resigned from Congress are also set to join BJP.

Fearing further exodus, Congress is preparing to ferry all its MLAs to resorts. According to reports, the legislators are likely to be held at a resort at Jaipur. Only 88 MLAs remain with Congress currently, though the party claims support of 95.  Incidentally, BJP moved its 107 MLAs to a resort in Haryana’s Gurugram last night. Senor party leaders Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Kailash and so forth  also  accompanied them. BJP is reportedly preparing to notify the governor on Congress lacking strength to stay in power.

Junior Scindia forayed into politics following death of his father Madhavro Scindia in a plane accident. He was a close friend of Rahul Gandhi and was even considered for AICC president’s post at one point. However after parliamentary elections  of 2019, Sonia Gandhi refused to appoint Scindia as parliamentary party advisor. Later he was also denied the post of President at PCC.
