NEW DELHI: Farmers protesting government’s agricultural laws have called for all-India hartal on Tuesday. The move to intensify protest, comes in the wake of centre’s refusal to meet farmers’ demands, despite two rounds of bilateral talks held so far. Countrywide, members from farmers’ organisations will burn prime minister’s effigy,. In Delhi protesters will also block highway and take over toll plazas in a bid to disrutp collection.
Farmer unions clarified they will not budge this time until the government scrapped the three anti-farmer laws. The agricultural laws enacted by Modi govt in September are believed to do away with minimum support price, tamper will electricity usage and ultimately snatch land from farmers - all to promote corporate interests.
