Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon has died from age-related ailments. The death, that came in the early hours of Tuesday, was announced by his son, Ashutosh Tandon, on Twietter. “Babuji nahi rahe(my father is no more)” read the tweet.
Tandon was hospitalised in Lucknow last month with respiratory illness and fever. He was put on life support since 11 June at Medanta hospital there.
The body will be taken to Gulala Ghat Chowk a 4 pm for last rites. Ashutosh requested people to pay their respects from their homes, given the prevailing pandemic conditions.
In his political career spanning five decades, Tandon served in UP Legislative Councils for two terms from 1978 to 1984 and 1990-1996; as MLA in UP Assembly for three terms between 1996 0 2009; as MP in the 15th Lok Sabha; and Governor of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
