NEW DELHII: Amid nationwide bandh called by farmers protesting the centre’s detrimental agricultural laws, mass arrests were made of leaders including CPI(M) MP , K. K. Ragesh and Kissan Sabha leaders P Krishnaprasad and Mariyam Dhawale among others.
CPI(M) Central Committee member Arun was arrested in Gujarat. The Yogi govt placed Politburo member Subashini Alia under house arrest in Kanpur. Rajasthan police arrested Central Committee member Aamra Ram while All India Farm Workers Union Secretary Vikram Singh was arrested by Haryana Police. CPI(M) state president Surekha was also arrested in Haryana. In Gujarat, Kissan Sabha Secretary Purushottam Parmar, Hilo Association state secretary Rameela Raval and several CPI(M) leaders such as District Secretary Ashok Sommpur Dayabhai Yadav, Kanu Kaar were also arrested.
The farmers’ agitation is confronting centre on its dark laws for the country. Several farmers’ organisations called for the Bharat Bandh that’s witnessed massive protests, demonstrations and marches all over the country.
