New Delhi : A total of Rs 30 crore and 80 lakhs have been spent on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s overseas travel post Covid-19. The figure was given out by the Union Minister of External Affairs V Muraleedharan  in the in reply to query put up by MP Sivadasan.

After the pandemic, the Prime Minister’s foreign  trips started  first to Bangladesh in March of 2021. Twenty more trips followed since to various countries up to June 2023.

Muraleedharan’s  reply  made it evident Modi was on trips abroad when riots blazed Manipur in the months of May and June. PM was in Japan on May 19, Papua New Guinea on 21 May before taking off to Australia on 22 May. He flew back on 25 May only to leave once again. He took to US on 20 June and later to Egypt.

Busy with foreign tours, PM was unavailable to visit or comfort families of riot victims in Manipur - a State that has turned out to be a replay of Gujarat genocide. The state of affairs reflect Prime Minister’s attitude towards India and its people, said V Sivadasan.
