New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin his role model and turn willing to work for those who did not for him as well, said DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran. The MP’s comments came in the aftermath of Opposition lashing out that announcements in Budget were made for only BJP-ruled states or its allies.
“It’s time that the Prime Minister sought some advice from our CM. When MK Stalin became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, there was one thing he said – I will work not only for those who voted for me, but also for those who didn’t. That’s my duty,” quoted Maran, adding that, “Today the Prime Minister is turning his back on the people that voted for him and operates only for parties backing him.”
Earlier, the INDIA bloc parties walked out of Rajya Sabha criticising that the government ignored all but two States in the Budget, namely, Bihar and Andhra that were lavished with schemes. The Budget allocated projects worth around Rs 75,000 crores for these states - that’s over and above projects whose allocations remain unclear. Together, the dual states get two lakh crore rupees in the current fiscal by the way of various projects. Added perks include financing for capital investment .
Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said the Union Budget funnelled its funds and projects into Bihar and Andhra Pradesh alone. No other state found mention in the Budget, he said and called the Budget a “chair-saver(kursi-bachao)” document.
