New Delhi : Opposition put up protest in Rajya Sabha over MP suspensions. The unwarranted suspension violates Rules of Procedure of Rajya Sabha and MPs shall not offer apology, said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge
MP who raised no ruckus too are put on suspension. Kharge said he was not allowed to speak on procedural issues involved. The names of MPs have to be stated at first and suspension announced later, said Kharge citing the rule.
To the Opposition’s dissenting view on suspension, the Rajya Sabha Chairperson Venkiah Naidu said the suspensions were over disorderly conduct and that the MPs in question were notified in the regard on 10th of October. The suspensions shall not be withdrawn, he clarified.
Following the Chairperson’s response, the Opposition MPs walked out of the House.
12 MPs including Elamaram Kareem and Binoy Viswam were suspended for rest of the winter session of the Parliament in connection with protest over varied issues, incuding the Farm laws, on last day on Monsoon Session .
