National Herald Probe : Questioning Continues; Arrest Likely, Say Sources

New Delhi : The Enforcement Directorate(ED) questioning of Rahul Gandhi is underway for the the 3rd day straight. According to sources, there are discrepancies in answers and an arrest could be impending. .

On day 2, Rahul was questioned for 10 hours. However,  the answers were not convincing, the reason why he has been summoned today yet again, said sources at ED.. The interrogation is being carried out in the presence of  ED Director.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders and party workers continue to protest in Delhi.  Police took several protesters, including Mahila Congress workers, forcibly into custody.  They were protesting accusing the govt of hounding Congress leadership using Central agencies at its disposal.

The Case : Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are main stakeholders of   Young Indian Limited(YIL). The probe revolves around YIL’s take over of Associated Journal Limited(AJL)  - the publishers of National herald.

The takeover  saw Rs  2000-crore worth AIL go to YIL for just Rs 50 lakhs. BJP leader, Subramanian Swami,  lodged complaint in 2013. The complaint accuses  Congress of illegally shelling out Rs 90 lakhs to AJL to keep National Herald newspaper in print.
