NEW DELHI : The CBI on Wednesday told the Supreme Court, there was no evidence of murder of children in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur shelter home and that the two skeletons recovered from the premises were found to be of a woman and a man.
Attorney General KK Venugopal said CBI investigated cases of 17 shelter homes across Bihar and chargesheets have been filed in 13, while no offence was detected in case of other 4.
Several girls were sexually assaulted after administering intoxicants, at an NGO-run shelter home in Muzafarpur. The horror of it came light following a field report by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), following which the inmates, mostly minor girls, were rescued. Statements from the victims suggested that several girls who went missing were killed by Brajesh Thakur, the kingpin who ran the shelter home. However each of them were traced alive, said CBI.
The CBI has requested the Bihar government to take departmental action and cancellation of registration and blacklisting of concerned NGOs by providing them the findings in form of a report.
