Kavaratti : With Supreme Court upholding Kerala High Order on meals, the Education Department in Lakshadweep released order regarding menu that restores eggs, meat and fish into mid-day programme menu for school students.
The new administrator Praful Lodha Patel had pulled back non-veg items including chicken and beef from the mid-day meals and ordered a replacement by dry fruits instead - a move that triggered huge protest. On a Public Interest Litigation(PIL) that ensued, the Kerala High Court ruled to revert to the original non-veg meals. That order was appealed by the administration resulting in the recent SC verdict reinforcing earlier stand.
