Oil Pipeline Blast Sets River on Fire : Assam

GUWAHATI :  In a rare occurrence, a river in Assam burned in flames after an oil pipeline running under its waters blasted. The fire which began 3 days ago  has not been doused yet. 

The mishap took place on Burhi Dihing river at Digholibil area near Sasoni village of Naharkatia in Diburgarh district.

 According to locals crude oil from Oil India Limited, Duligan plant somehow entered the water pipe line connected to the river. The locals who noticed the fire couple of days back had informed authorities but there was no response.

Some suspect that miscreants set fire to the crude oil that they noticed on the water.  The fire has spread panic among locals and fire  fighters are attempting to stall the blaze.
