Thiruvananthapuram : It was a day of disappointment and humiliation for the Opposition on Tuesday. For one, its adjournment motion on K-Rail backfired. It then tried to prop up a second adjournment to discuss transferring Venjaramoodu murder case to CBI. The Speaker quickly dismissed that motion citing the topic was under judicial consideration. What stunt next, the Opposition was confused. Shout slogans or storm into well of the House ? Some walked out of their seats hoping it will bring some spotlight. That antic was soon dampened by members picking quarrel with one another.
‘We are talking about the public sector. Please cooperate,” urged Minister V. Sivankutty, attempting to respond to P. Nandakumar’s query and said it is absolutely essential to protect the public sector units. Further on, there was no audible ruckus and Minister V Sivankutty asked “Tired? ”. The comment drew loud laughter around the House.
“Are you ready to raise slogans against the Centre,” the minister asked. V. Sivankutty also hit back at VD Satheesan’s attempt to hurl personal attack. “You’re Guru in Assembly proceedings,” Satheeshan had taunted, to which the Minister said “Thank you for perceiving me as Guru. True, I have stormed well of the House for public cause and am proud of what I did,” the minister said. Steamed out, the Opposition said it was walking out and left the House.
