New Delhi : The Delhi Police blocked CPI(M)’s “V20 vs G20” seminar at Surjeet Bhawan - the CPI(M) Centre for study and research. Police set up barricades in front of the building, locked the gates and prevented people coming to the seminar from entering.
There is heavy police deployment around Surjeet Bhavan. The Kairali news crew too was prevented from getting into the building. The police demeanor is based on their accusation that no prior permission has been sought for conduct of the seminar. V20 seminar started a few days ago. Medha Patkar, Pro. Arun Kumar, Brinda Karat, Jayanthi Ghosh and others were scheduled to arrive for the seminar.
The blocking of seminar is an authoritarian act, said CPI(M) Secretary MV Govindan. The ongoings amount to murder of democracy, said PK Sreemathy.
