NEW DELHI : According to students of Aligarh Muslim University, the police forced their way into the campus raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” , a report released by a fact-finding team of Karwan-E-Mohabhat and Indian Cultural Forum said. The team had visited the varsity premises on 17 December.
According to the report titled “The Siege of Aligarh Muslim University”, the students were too scared to lodge complaints against the police.
The document said, several students warned by the university authorities themselves against filing a complaint, with the hint that it could attract expulsion, apart from facing criminal charges including the dreaded National Security Act.
The report claims, the fear was so heightened that several injured students kept away from seeking medical attention. “The doctors told us that the students who come with injuries would have their names put down in records. So many students never came to the hospitals, “ said Human Rights activist Harsh Mander, who lead the team to survey the situation.
