NEW DELHI: The sea of protesting farmers are all set to enter Delhi on the Republic Day. Scores of tractors wait positioned at all four national highways of the capital to conduct Kissan Parade tomorrow. Farmers will enter the city via borders of Singhu, Tikri, Gazhipur and Chilla. Protesters had secured approval from police after submitting route map for their parade. After rallying along set route the marchers will retreat back to the borders.
The parade entering from Singhu will travel 63 kilometers before exiting the city through border of Auchandi while the parade will scale 62.5 km of the city before exiting en route Jarodha border. Police talks for stringent conditions are on for parades entering from Gazhipur and Chilla
Maharashtra Rallies
In solidarity for protests at Delhi, farmers of Maharashtra are taking out massive marches on their side. Over 15,000 farmers will march to Mumbai from Nasik under the aegis of All India Kissan Sabha alone. The march took off Saturday from Golf Club Maidan in Nasik. After camping at Ghatandevi near Igathpur overnight, marchers set off on foot to Kasaraghat from where the vehicle march is advancing toward Mumbai.
Protesters atop hundreds of tempos and pickups are headed for the state capital. Over 50,000 farmers from across 21 districts will converge in Mumbai on the Republic Day. On Monday, the marchers will reach Raj Bhavan and handover their request to the governor after which the rally will proceed to Azad Maidan and hoist the national flag.
Speakers at the rally will comprise National General Secretary Hanan Mollah, NCP National President Sharad Pawar, congress State President and Minister Balasaheb Thackeray, Siva Sena leader and Minister Aditya Thackeray. In solidarity for farm protests, the Farm Workers Union and CITU had called to organise dharna in front of Raj Bhavan on 125th birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose. Marches were also held in states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Odisha Jammu Kashmir and Assam.
