Jaipur: CPI(M) won 18 seats in Rajasthan panchayat samiti polls including 2 in zilla parishads divisions. The party won 2 seats in Hanuman zilla parishad and 16 grama panchayat seats.
Incidentally, neither Trinamool Congress nor NCP was able to secure seats in any of the panchayat seats or wards.
The elections for panchayat samitis in Rajasthan were held in four phases in November end and early December. Seats contested spanned 636 zilla parishads comprising 4371 panchayat samiti wards. There were 12,663 candidates in the fray for panchayat samitis and 1788 for zilla parishads. Voting was held on 23, 27 Nov, and 1, 5 of December.
