NEW DELHI : Terror struck JNU in Delhi Sunday evening, where a large gang of men wearing masks stormed into the campus , attacked students and targeted student union president Aishe Ghosh, rendering near-fatal blow to her head.
The incident took place around 6.30 pm. The ABVP members surrounded the students who were holding peaceful protests in the hostel, hitting them with rods and batons. As protesters geared up in defence, the ABVP gang fled the campus soon after.
The Students Union is set to hold March to the Ministry of Human Resources on Monday, to demand rolling back the fee hike and question varsity’s move of unleashing terror inside the campus. On Saturday, students raised alarm over the security personnel humiliating protesters and attacking them. ABVP members and pro-RSS professors too had joined the onslaught.
Authorities, who refused to scrap the hike, attempted to carry out online registration. The bid was however foiled by protesting students. Today’s attacks are viewed as varsity’s reprisal to this.
ABVP goons were arranged by the administration to subdue protests, claimed the JNU Students Union.
