Record High: Daily Death Climbs To 4329 In Past 24 Hours Nationwide

New Delhi: Covid fatalities around the country are rising even as infection numbers come down. A record high of 4329 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.

Maharashtra alone recorded 1000 deaths taking the national death toll so far in the pandemic to 2.80 lakh. 2,63,533 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours.

The statewise high death numbers  in past 24 hours is : Maharashtra 1000;  Karnataka 476;  Delhi 340;  Tamil Nadu 335;  U. P. 271;  Uttarakhand 223;  Punjab 191;  Rajasthan 157;  Chhattisgarh 149;  Bengal 147.

The statewise split for high infection  numbers in the same period stood at : Karnataka 38,603;  Tamil Nadu 33075;  Maharashtra 26,616;  Bengal 19,003;  Andhra 18,561;  Rajasthan 11597.

270 Doctors Killed In Second Wave
The Covid Second Wave claimed lives of at least 270 doctors. The split : Indian Medical Association(IMA), Bihar(78) ;  Uttarakhand 937);  Delhi(29);  Andhra(22). The first wave saw deaths of 748 doctors. The second wave is posing grave challenges to health workers, said IMA President Dr. J A Jayalal. The second wave broke after doctors became vaccinated, he added.

1600 Teachers in UP Fell Prey To Covid
1621 staff including teachers on election duty died of covid. Primary School Teachers’ Association wrote to CM Adityanath Yogi for compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of the dead. The letter makes 8 demands.
