NEW DELHI : Lockdown restrictions will continue at stringent levels in regions badly hit by the virus, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. And, Controls shall be loosened in areas where infections are scarce. The level of restrictions will be at variance for one region from another depending on the Covid conditions prevalent at a given time, PM said in his video-conference communiqué.
Covid is here to stay for a long time. Social distancing measures cannot be compromised so long as Covid-19 threat overhangs our society. Masks should become an important part of personal accessory. The govt is considering providing financial aid to states, PM said further.
The Prime Minister was speaking with Chief Ministers of West Bengal region, Mizoram, Puthucherry, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Bihar and Gujarat, Haryana today. The state heads of Meghalaya, Goa, Odisha and Gujarat demanded the lockdown be continued.
