Mumbai : A Railway Protection Force(RPF) constable gunned down four people on board the Jaipur - Mumbai Express between Bhayandar and Mira Road Monday morning. Those deceased include RPF assistant sub inspector(ASI) and pantry worker. The remaining two were passengers. The bodies have been moved to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital for postmortem.
The shooting took place in Coach no. 85 around 5:20 am. After shooting the pantry worker and ASI, the constable Chetan Kumar took the two passengers hostage and attempted to alight the train after pulling the emergency chain. However Chetan could not make his getaway and was nabbed along with the gun at Mira Road station.
The police meanwhile began investigations into the motive. The Western Railways announced ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased ASI Tika Ram.
