NEW DELHI : CPI(M) believes in gender equality, said party General Secretary Sitaram Yechury adding that, the apex court should come out with a final judgment at an early time.
The Constitution Bench, rather than focusing on the challenged 2018 verdict, chose to refer the constitutionality of various practices in other religions, to a Larger Bench.
The judgment raises doubts on several counts. Until the time the court is conspicuous on the issue, the ongoing limbo is here to stay, Yechury said.
Referring to Ayodhya verdict, the leader said, Babri Masjid dragged through 3 decades.
Leaders including LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi and Kalyan Singh were indicted in the case. The top court ruled that razing the mosque was unlawful. So how has the verdict delivered justice, asked Yechury. “Have the wrongdoers been punished ? “ he added.
Hinting that the mechanism of law should run its course, Yechury said, the judgment should not come in the way of booking the guilty.
He was addressing a press conference in the capital, Monday.
