Lucknow, UP: Aiming to kick up anti-CAA protests further, the  Samajwadi Party on Friday promised pension for anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters, if it were to come to power again. The Opposition Leader Ram Govind Choudary said, the party would also give compensation to the kin of those jailed or killed during the protests in the state.

We shall protect anyone who seeks refuge, Choudhary said. Anyone raising questions is being asked to go to Pakistan(by BJP), he added.

The move has drawn sharp reaction from BJP circles. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said “It is the DNA of that party to honour rioters and anti-socials.” In the past, they had tried to withdraw cases against terrorists  and the court intervened to prevent it. It is unfortunate that SP leaders are speaking about giving citizenship rights to Bangladeshis and Rohangiyas,” Sharma alleged.

Meanwhile the Congress on Saturday said there is no one supporting the anti-CAA protests except them.
