NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court on Monday reserved its order on the plea against BJP govt formation in Maharashtra, till 10:30 am tomorrow.
The petition challenges governor’s decision allowing BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis to take oath as chief minister and call off Presidential Rule in the state, after what the Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena combine describes was a midnight coup.
Initiating the arguments, Solicitor General Tusar Mehta, appearing for the Governor said “No party has till date gone to the Governor saying it can form the govt. The letter by Ajit Pawar to the Governor dated Nov 22 contains signatures of 54 MLAs,” he said.
Appearing for Fadnavis, Mukul Rohatgi sid, it was a family feud between the Pars and the pre-poll alliance partner turning to a foe from a friend.
Lawyer for Congress, Singhvi dubbed the govt formation as “murder of democracy”.
The bench on Sunday had asked Solicitor Mehta to produce letters of the governor at 10.30 am Monday for passing orders. In its follow-up today, the Bench declined, fervent request from Mehta seeking two days more to place the communication on record.
Post today’s hearing, the apex court has reserved its judgment l on floor test to 10.30 am tomorrow.

Shiv Sena MLAs were brought to Hotel Lemon Tree from Lalit Hotel where they were lodged earlier. The Congress MLAs continue to be in JW Marriott hotel in Mumbai’s suburban Andheri while NCP MLAs who were lodged at Hotel Renaissance in Powai have been shifted to Hotel Grand Hyatt in Santacurz and Sofitel inBandra-Kurla complex.
