MUMBAI : Congress interim president, Sonia Gandhi, on Monday ruled out supporting Shiv Sena for forming new government in Maharashtra,
The refusal for power alignment comes barely hours after Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) president Sharad Pawar met her in New Delhi, over the stalemate between the Shiv Sena and BJP over power-sharing in Maharashtra.
According to unconfirmed reports, Pawar expressed his willingness to join a Shiv Sena-led govt, with Congress supporting from outside and its nominee getting the speaker's post.
All would depend on Sena terminating its alliance with the BJP, Pawar reportedly said.
Meanwhile, amid uncertainty over govt formation in the state, .BJP is monitoring the development and reportedly hopes Shiv Sena to come around for talks.
BJP remains firm on non-sharing of chief ministerial tenure and has decided not be hassled by Sena's adamancy on a 50:50 formula for CMship.
