NEW DELHI : A two-member unidentified gang who arrived on bike opened fire at Jamia Milia Islamia University on Sunday night. No injuries have been reported in the incident.
The shootout took place close to varsity’s gate no. 5. Following the attack, students gathered in protest that’s still ongoing, demanding an immediate arrest of the shooters.
Meanwhile, Kapil Gujjar, the suspect in the recent shootout at Shaheen Baug has been remanded for two days, by Saket Court in Delhi. Investigators are probing to see if the man might be connected with any outfit, said DCP Chinmaya Gujjar.
On evening of Saturday the assailant reached Shaheen Baug and fired rounds into the sky, close to a place where the protesters were seated. No one was wounded and police there nabbed Kapil and seized his gun.
Incidentally, Jamia University is just 2 km from Shaheen Bagh, where protesters opposing CAA have set up a tent by the road for two months now.
