New Delhi : There Central Committee in its meeting never discussed SilverLine project; media claims, that some members forewarned party in Kerala, is totally unfounded, said CPI(M) Gneral Secretary Sitaram Yechury. The topic was not even listed on the agenda. SilverLine is a State Govt issue meaning there is no need for the Central Committee or Party Congress to discuss it, said Yechury in an interview with Deshabhimani.

The project has been designed by K-Rail - a company in which  Railways has   49 percent stakeholding  and State govt the remaining 51 percent. Three things are of major significance in terms of the project. Firstly, it should cause no harm to the environment. Secondly, people should not become forcefully evicted for land acquisition and thirdly, property owners  should be paid adequate compensation.

The survey ongoing now is to study the feasibility of implementing the project. Let evaluations continue. Why should Opposition resist that ?  The protests being lined up by Opposition are  not fair. Comparing SilverLine to Bullet train is rather foolish, said Yechury.
