NEW DELHI : Only countries or states where public healthcare network remains solid have had covid-19 pandemic controlled effectively, said CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury.
China, Vietnam, Cuba and Kerala among the Covid-hit countries stand proof to this. Health workers from Cuba are engaged in mitigating the pandemic from over 50 countries. Mindless privatisation is disastrous, said Yechury in a televised interview on the 75th Anniversary of Victory Over Nazi-Fascism Saturday.
Under the cover of ongoing pandemic, the Modi government is robbing workers of their rights. Working hours now stand raised to 12. The govt is scrapping labour laws. Elsewhere, people who joined anti-CAA protests are being hounded and filled into jails now. The outrageous move comes even as the Supreme Court called for letting out as many jail inmates possible, to curb the virus spread.
Developments that emerged from protests signify how socialism and leftism is all-important to our society. It is the Left that lends solidarity to the emerging agitation by workers and farmers in the country. The backing is hard to ignore for most. And, the RSS and BJP is doing all in its powers to destroy the rising solidarity.
The BJP government is setting stage to the RSS goal of moulding a Hindu fascist country out of India. The struggles of the past that pulled down fascist forces should inspire us to oppose and overturn such efforts, said Yechury.
