Ahmedabad : A student in Gujarat who failed her XII std board exams scored 705 out of 720 in NEET -  the highly competitive entrance exam to under graduate medical course. And, social media is raging with posts highlighting the huge difference of the two scores.

However, it remains to be seen if the marksheet belongs to be same person who wrote the exam. According to unconfirmed sources, the girl was registered as ‘dummy’ student at a nearby schools while attending coaching sessions at a science centre in Ahmedabad.

The Marks Breakup
According to the Gujarat Higher Secondary Board, the girl in question scored only 21 in physics, 31 in chemistry, 39 in biology and 59 in English and scored a 352 out of 700 and, failed the exams.

Her parents are doctors and shared concern with the teachers about her poor academic performance. She was enrolled with a coaching centre but dropped out two months later  during the course of her XII std. With that backdrop, school authorities were stunned when NEET results came and she notched high among toppers – a total score of 99.8 perecentile in physics, 99.1 in chemistry and 99.1 in biology  giving her an aggregate of 99.9 percentile.

Backdrop: The NTA(National Testing Agency) that conducts the exam announced NEET UG results on June 20, soon after which  paper leak allegations blew up into a scam that saw several arrested, including kingpins of the paper leak racket. In the modus operandi, “solver gangs” who receive leaked paper prepare answers to the questions and pass them on to candidates beforehand for prices running into lakhs.

Still, government sources reject apprehensions that irregularities may have occurred on wide scale. Preliminary analysis of data indicate the highest number of students with  marks above 700 from 720 come rom Rajasthan(482 students), 205 in Madhya Pradesh, 194 in Kerala and 184 in Uttar Pradesh. And, a centre in Bihar is considered epicentre of the leak.
