New Delhi : Taha Fasal, charged under UAPA in Panthirankav case, was granted bail by the Supreme Court today. In its ruling, the apex court also rejected NIA plea to cancel bail obtained by another accused in the case, Alan Shuhaibh.
The verdict was handed by Bench headed by Supreme Court Justice Ajay Rasthogi, after refusing to admit NIA argument that, it was in possession of incriminating evidences per Maoist links pertaining to the duo.
The Special NIA Court had granted bail to Alan and Taha in September of 2020. Subsequently, the High Court canceled Taha’s bail. The court however refused to quash bail granted to Alan by the trial court following which, NIA approached Supreme Court in the matter.
Taha and Alan were arrested in Nov 2019 on suspicion of Maoist connections.
