NEW DELHI : Thousands rallied in protest organized by CPI(M) in Assam, chanting “Listen To This Shah and Modi ; We Shall Protect Constitution and Democracy”. The massive protest held on the grounds of Guwahati club, reflected the anti-government sentiment over the newly enacted citizenship law.
The Prime Minister should go through history of emergency times, before seeking to suppress protest of the masses, said CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. At that time too, people rallied in the streets, to protect constitution and democracy of India.
The present govt is engaging in concerted moves to destroy the unity and integrity of the country. However the people of this land will defeat such efforts and uphold secularism. CPI(M) will not allow cancellation of Assam Accord or implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act, Yechury said.
