New Delhi : For a rally that failed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi resorts to maligning Punjab and the farmers, said Samyukt Kissan Morcha(SKM). “Saved my life somehow”, said Prime Minister. When criminals like Ajay Mishra thrive as ministers, it is farmers that have their life on the line. The Prime Minister should refrain from making such irresponsible statements at least from consideration for dignity of his post, said SKM.
When PM’s visit to Punjab was announced, 10 organisations of Samyukta Kissan Morcha coordinated symbolic protests. Demands including arrest of Ajay Mishra were raised. There was no plan whatsoever to block PM or disrupt tbe rally.
When police stopped farmers from moving toward district of Firozpur as planned prior, protesters sat on the road resulting in block that included Pyarana overbridge. Farmer were clueless about PM’s convoy ever passing there. Also they never moved toward PM’s motorcade. Threat to PM’s life is a fabricated claim, said Samyukta Kissan Morcha in a statement.
