The fatal gunfire took place on 31 July on board the Jaipur - Mumbai Central Express train. RPF constable Chetan Kumar Choudary shot his senior officer Tikaram Meena and passengers Abdul Kadharbai Bhanupurwala, Sardar Mohammad Hussain and Asghar Abbas Sheikh in the incident.

Tikaram Meena belonged to scheduled caste. All three others were from the Muslim community. Chetan also made a cheeky anti-Muslim speech after his killing spree, the video of which hit social media soon after.
